Point System
A "point system" seems to
work well to make sure everyone contributes to making the trip a success. There
are a number of jobs that need to be done. We need people to help set up the
dining area and kitchen at the beginning of the trip, and we need people to
tear it down at the end. We need someone to plan meals for each day (we have
breakfast and dinner in camp each day). We need people to help the meal
planners cook the meal. We need someone to make coffee each morning. We also
need people to wash dishes, dump garbage, and get water. We also need someone
to haul the outings trailer up to BC and someone to haul it back. Please check
the web page at www.coflyfishers.org/bc/jobs.html to see what each of these jobs entails.
Each task is worth one point except
meal planning which is worth two points and towing the trailer which is also
worth two points. Since we will be having breakfasts and dinners for 8 mornings
and evenings, the total number of points we need to secure form the attendees
adds up as follows.
·
It would be nice to have eight
people for set-up (1 point each) and tear-down crew (1 point each)
·
We need coffee made for each of
eight mornings (1 point per day).
·
We need eight breakfast planners and
eight dinner planners (2 points each)
·
We will need about two or three
cooks for each meal (1 point each)
·
We will need two people on clean up
for each breakfast and dinner (1 point each).
·
We need someone to haul the outings
trailer up to BC and someone to haul it back to Bend (2 points each way in
addition to cash reimbursement for the additional fuel burned).
We will need about 5 points from
everybody This means that as part of signing up for the trip you should also
sign up for 5 points worth of activity to do your fair share of the work.
Please note that people who plan a meal (worth two points) will also help to
cook that meal (worth one point) so you will get three points if you plan and
help to cook a breakfast for example. If two people want to share in the
planning of a meal, they will split the two points for planning the meal (one
point each) and each of them will get a point for helping to cook, so they
would get a total of 2 points each.
Here are some examples of how you
could sign up:
·
You could help to set-up (one
point), plan one breakfast (two points), help to cook that breakfast (one
point), and be on cleanup for a dinner (one point).
·
You could volunteer to do cleanup on
five occasions.
·
You could volunteer to help someone
else cook on three occasions (three points) and then you and a buddy could
share meal planning and cooking for a dinner (two points for you).
·
You and a buddy could share in the
planning of two meals (two points total for you), help to cook each of those
meals (two points for you), and help tear-down the camp at the end of the trip
(one point)
If you want to sign up for more than
5 points, we won't complain. You could, for example, plan breakfast and dinner
for a given day, help to cook those meals and thus have do 6 points worth of
work in one day. This would mean that you could sit back for the rest of the
trip and let everyone else cook and clean for you.
Please be aware that even if
everyone signs up correctly and does all jobs that they are expected to do
there will still be many other times when a helping hand will be welcome.
Please be ready to help out where needed. It not only makes the trip go more
smoothly, but it is a good way to meet and get to know fellow club members.
