About Central Oregon Flyfishers
Trying to describe Central Oregon Flyfishers is a little difficult because we are so many things. Our group consists of both avid, experienced fly fishers as well as those that are new to the sport. Some join our organization in order to help out on our many conservation projects, some to add their voice to ours in the advocacy of wise fishery practices, many to meet new folks to go fishing with, and most to learn something new. Our group is multi faceted:
- We are affiliated with, and support, the Federation of Fly Fishers and Oregon Trout.
- We are dedicated to improving fish habitat through our numerous conservation projects.
- We promote catch and release.
- We have monthly meetings where we share fishing stories, sign up for conservation projects and listen to a program. The programs vary, we have had:
- Fisheries Biologists talk about issues that concern us.
- Fly-fishing guides give us pointers on improving our success.
- Club members share reports of trips taken to Alaska and other locations.
- Fly casting experts give us demonstrations of good casting technique.
- Fly-fishing authors discuss their latest books.
- We believe in sharing our love and knowledge of the sport with others.
- We maintain a club library of fishing books and videos, available to all club members.
- We teach beginning fly fishing lessons through Bend Metro Parks and Rec.
