January’s program will be a presentation by Drew Moore, Deschutes County Deputy District Attorney.
In 2014, Drew was presented the 2014 Wildlife Prosecutor of the Year Award. He won the award for distinguishing himself time and again in prosecuting violators of Oregon's fish and wildlife and natural resource laws in the Central Oregon area. Drew and one of the Oregon State Police officers will speak to the club regarding regulations. During this presentation members will gain insight on how regulations are enforced with a focus on poaching. We’ll learn what pro-active efforts are taken by law enforcement. And then what steps are taken when a violation occurs. We’ll also learn what it is we can do if we see poaching or other regulations violated.
Pre-Meeting:Want to learn more about bamboo fly rods? Dave Dozer, COFF member and fulltime bamboo rod builder, will talk about what it takes to build a bamboo fly rod. He’ll demonstrate many of the steps it takes to go from a raw piece of Tonkin bamboo to a fine fly fishing implement that is a great match to our local waters.
